First introduced by renowned circuit protection manufacturer Wylex in 2008, the High Integrity Fuse Board essentially combines the benefits of a dual RCD board and the main switchboard.

Its main purpose is to not have a distribution circuit protected by the RCDs enclosed with the consumer unit.

Earth leakage or Residual Current Detection is managed by RCDs which protect two banks of MCBs (Miniature circuit breaker). Unfortunately, they offer virtually no circuit separation- if the residual current is detected on one circuit the RCD interrupts power to all of the circuits it is protecting which will cause a number of problems for the homeowner.

Therefore, a High Integrity Fuse Board can be installed so that if for example, an issue with an outside light trips the power, it will not interrupt the power to a dedicated supply for an outbuilding or garage.
